The project operates on two scales: the territorial scale, which encompasses the landscape and access road to the city, and the urban scale, which includes the adjacent residential blocks and the park to the south. This border situation is addressed by creating a large built volume that features subtractions and perforations to clarify its relationship with both the immediate and distant surroundings.
Inside, the space is continuous and open, transitioning smoothly from the more confined foyers to the expansive areas designated for gatherings and sports. This design fosters an interior landscape characterized by visual and spatial connections. The ample interior space, combined with natural light, evokes the essence of the original outdoor playing fields.
The design of the skylights is intentional, directing natural light toward the playing area while keeping spectators in the periphery, thereby enhancing the space with a theatrical quality. The openings in the built volume not only allow for natural illumination but also help establish a scale relationship with the surroundings. At night, these openings emit light, transforming the structure into an urban landmark on the edge of the city.
