The ZM Industrial Operations Building is located at the southwest corner of a fuel tank terminal in Lusaka's industrial district, characterized by chaotic truck and bicycle traffic on the unpaved road. Its abstract square floor plan features alternating opaque and transparent facades, creating distinct views from various angles. A large tree nearby defines the space and the surrounding vegetation serves as a buffer between the industrial area and the workspace.
The building's enclosure, made of large aluminum Z-profiles, reflects the industrial environment while also mirroring the light and colors of the vegetation. The perception of the building shifts dramatically with Lusaka's stormy weather, from a vibrant silhouette against a blue sky to being obscured by gray storm clouds.
